Traveling During a Pandemic: Dallas

Ryan is considering moving to Texas so she headed down to Dallas for a weekend to catch up with some friends and explore the city.

Q. Where did you fly from and to, and did you have any layovers?
A. I flew to Dallas, Texas on September 4 and flew back to Cleveland, Ohio on September 7. I flew Spirit Airlines and I did not have any layovers.

Q. What was your check-in experience like at your starting airport?
A. I checked in at the Spirit kiosks to receive my boarding pass and tag for my checked bag. Figuring out how to put the tag on my suitcase was a bit confusing, but a Spirit worker helped me.
Q. What were your boarding and flight experiences like?
A. I wasn't sure what to expect, but my flight and boarding experiences were both completely fine.
They boarded us in zones, which I thought was interesting because on my flight to San Francisco in July Delta Air Lines boarded us from the back to the front of the plane to try to minimize contact with other passengers. I was surprised Spirit wasn’t doing that as well.
Both flights were almost full. Spirit also isn't blocking middle seats like Delta and most of the middle seats were taken. The flight itself was fine. On the way there I socialized with the people in my row, and on the way back I slept through the whole flight.
For the right price compared to other airlines, I would definitely consider flying Spirit again.

Q. What was your favorite part about your trip?
A. I really enjoyed hanging out with my friends who I hadn't seen in a while. My favorite part of the trip was going to Topgolf for the first time. I planned to go to Topgolf in Cleveland for my birthday in April, but was unable to because of COVID.
Dallas was a good time. I'd recommend it. I plan to visit again in the future when there are less COVID restrictions so I can experience more activities.
Q. What were the main things you noticed about traveling to Dallas during a pandemic?
A. I noticed that in the airport everyone was wearing masks, but outside of the airport there were a few occasions I saw people out in public not wearing masks.
